Awkwafina began as an American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped into Hollywood the singer was able to release a number of songs. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. She was born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Additionally, she was given the classical and jazz education later becoming a hip-hop teenager. Concentrating on school she studied journalism as well as women's studies at college, even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a time. It wasn't until she graduated that she begin to concentrate on music. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in the year 2015, and was an additional project. Her resume included both musicians and an author. Now she was looking to expand her career into acting. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors as well as Storks. In the year 2018, her breakout roles included Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. In June she released her first film In Fina We Trust.
