She debuted on the big screen on Sex Traffic by Channel 4 in which she won she was awarded the British Academy Television Award was presented to her for Best Actress. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 days (4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 days) produced by Cristian Mungiu. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two additional awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). Also, she appeared as an infant in Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth. She was also in 2008 as Yasim anwar, a character from the BBC 5-episode mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca was a guest in the Romanian drama Boogie along with Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven. She played Irma on Fury 2014, where she played the role of a German known aunt for Emma.
